Talisman Plastic
We helped Talisman Plastics bring their food packaging facility up to lighting compliance standards by installing energy efficient IP66 rated LED fittings in a live factory environment.
The Brief
Talisman Plastics, a plastics manufacturer producing food packaging, approached us after being recommended by a contact. Their existing fluorescent lighting wasn’t suitable for their clean production areas. It didn’t meet the required lumen levels and the exposed tubes were not compliant with food safety standards. Our task was to provide a solution that achieved full compliance while keeping the factory operational.

The Project
We installed new lighting trunking suspended from the purlins, which housed all cabling and served as the fixing point for the lights. The fittings we used were IP66-rated non-corrosive high-output LED battens, which are ideal for food-grade environments.
The factory runs almost continuously, so one of the main challenges was working in a live setting. We phased the installation so the new lighting went in alongside the old, ensuring safe working light levels at all times. Once the new system was fully operational, we removed the old one. We didn’t need to coordinate with other trades, but we worked closely with the factory team to schedule access and minimise disruption.

The Outcome
The result was a lighting system that not only met food production compliance standards but also offered improved energy efficiency. The client can now deliver on their packaging contracts with full confidence, and they’re saving on energy bills too. We completed the work on time and within budget, maintaining full continuity of service throughout.
The feedback was really positive, and we’ve since gone on to carry out several further projects at the site.
The Response
"This was a classic example of delivering quality results in a live environment, with zero disruption. The client needed full compliance without impacting production, and we made that happen efficiently and safely."
