Malvern Rugby Club

Following a full audit of the current electrical infrastructure we completed necessary updates to bring the site up to current regulations.

The Brief

We were appointed by the main contractor—on recommendation and successful tender—to deliver electrical works as part of a wider refurbishment at Malvern Rugby Club. The project, overseen by Malvern Council, involved modernising the changing room block and installing a new commercial kitchen.

The brief required a full electrical installation to current standards, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, ventilation systems, heating, and power. The works had to comply with all relevant electrical and building regulations while ensuring the clubhouse remained operational.

The Project

The scope included new 3-phase switchgear, full rewire of the changing rooms, installation of fire detection and emergency lighting systems, ventilation and heating provisions, and integration of the new commercial kitchen’s power requirements. Existing circuits were carefully incorporated into the new distribution setup.

Despite the scale of works, the clubhouse remained in use throughout the five-month project. This required us to maintain power continuity while coordinating with other contractors and adhering to a structured schedule set by the main contractor and Malvern Council.

All works were delivered in compliance with BS7671, BS5839, BS5266, and relevant building regulations.

The Outcome

The refurbishment delivered modernised facilities that significantly improved the experience for all age groups at the club, including new, compliant electrical infrastructure in both the changing rooms and kitchen.

The project was completed on time and within budget, with no disruption to clubhouse operations. Ongoing engagement has since led to additional work being requested by the club.

The Response

“This was a technically varied job in a live environment, so keeping things running while delivering a compliant install was key. We worked closely with the main contractor and council, and it’s great to see the club already making use of the new facilities.”
