Madresfield Gardens
This domestic project included LED seating lighting, discreet pathway bollards with motion sensors, and concealed power for outdoor cooking and entertainment.
The Brief
Our private clients were undertaking a complete garden and landscaping transformation at their home in Malvern. Referred to us by a previous client, they wanted subtle but effective outdoor lighting – something sleek, contemporary, and sympathetic to the design of their new patio, pathways, and outdoor seating areas.

The Project
Our scope included installing a new consumer unit dedicated to outdoor circuits, with separate supplies for sockets and lighting. The garden works were completed in two phases, and we returned at the end of each section to carry out the finishing electrical installation.
For the bench seating, we installed high output LED tape lighting, rated for outdoor use and contained within aluminium extrusion. This created a clean, diffused lighting effect beneath the seating. Switching and sockets for this zone were hidden under the outdoor kitchen counter to maintain an uncluttered appearance.
Along the pathway, we installed modern bollard lights selected to provide subtle illumination without being overpowering. These were controlled by two motion sensors, one at the garden entrance and one near the back door, providing automatic operation based on movement. We added an override switch to leave them on if needed, and a second switch to isolate them completely for occasions when lighting was not required.
Cabling was laid during the landscaping phase in close coordination with the contractor. Once all hardscaping was complete, we returned to complete and commission the installation to ensure a polished finish.

The Outcome
The finished lighting scheme brings the garden to life after dark. It enhances safety along the pathways and adds a warm, welcoming atmosphere to the seating and patio areas. The final result is stylish and understated, exactly as the client envisioned. The project was delivered on time and to specification, with no complications.
The Response
"It was a fairly compact job, but one that really rewards getting the details right. We always aim to make our lighting feel like a natural part of the garden, not an afterthought."
